Dividing time by the calendar. Thinking January 1 means a little more than January 2 is, to some extent, a bit kitsch—or a little too attached to ritual.
After all, it is only an agreed-upon way of counting the years; turn a calendar page, and the people and things around us barely change. Only the numbers do.
After “6 days on, 1 day off,” “9 a.m. to 11 p.m.,” and “an hour and a half commuting each way,” the calendar has finally reached 2025.
2025 is bound to be anything but peaceful.
I have not written a year-end review on time for several years; this year, for once, I have made it.
Let me at least make a start.
However difficult the road ahead, keep your eyes open and do your best to stand tall.
Let this be the prologue.
Off to bed first. After all, I said at the start that insisting on January 1 does not matter all that much.
