TL;DR

A: 因为是 xy 的 po

[Facepalm]

Shaqiuzi:

Raij)

TL;DR

@RaijThunderkeg: a 40+ veteran hanging around Beijing Resistance, one of its “higher-ups,” forever picking fights with heaven, earth, and thin air.

Around this Beijing shard battle, he not only deliberately ignored my recharge request but came out afterward to rub it in.

Seven years of resentment have become this article. Please forgive any ill-chosen wording.

Bringing the Laptop Was Worth It

Six in the evening, December 14, 2025.

I had just dragged a 110-liter suitcase full of snow gear, carrying one large and one small backpack, from Qinghe Station via metro lines 13 and 4, barely catching the earliest available high-speed train back to Tianjin South.

Sitting down out of breath, I realized that the laptop I had packed last Wednesday to watch shard-battle IITC was, at this moment, finally realizing its greatest value.

For long stretches of writing—especially the kind where you curse someone out—a keyboard simply feels better.

Yes, today I am going to curse someone out. Clap the storyteller's block. Take your seats, dear audience. Here we go.

Looking Back: An Old Acquaintance

Back in 2018 or 2019, when I was still a Tianjin newbie, I loved going to Beijing.

New to the scene and fond of group-chat chatter, I always found the Duck King group's atmosphere good.

In the newcomers' group, however, an administrator called @RaijThunderkeg was always giving me a hard time.

It was too long ago; forgive me for not having screenshots.

I only remember an administrator whose ID began with Raij being very unfriendly.

Without proof, “giving me a hard time” may sound weak.

But I ask everyone who was in that “Coach” group to remember: wasn't there always someone whose barbed, snide words left you feeling as though you had swallowed rat droppings?

Those who know, know. If you have ever shared a small group with him, you will not be indifferent.

A bizarre conversational style: you have done nothing to me, but I dislike the sight of you and must find some way to make you uncomfortable.

But I was young and ignorant then, and lived far away. So I soon forgot.

Time passed quickly, and that newcomer from Tianjin soon—

turned once-green Tianjin blue, covered Tianjin several times, and contributed at least 30 articles to Beijing Resistance's public account, before pieces were split up.

Attended 3 XMAs, recursed 9 times, and broke the world record for the game's longest Link.

Lately, I have wrapped Tianjin in layer upon layer of blue Fields, as though guarding a sky-blue dream.

Beijing and Tianjin may not be far apart, but it is still a two-hour journey. With so few active Tianjin players, I had to lean on others for events large and small. Most players are very nice, so things were generally harmonious.

Still Here, Still the Same Old Style

Until the two shard battles of 2025.

June, Tianjin shards: the two remaining Tianjin Resistance players prepared desperately, but the result was still disappointing.

In December, shards returned to North China, this time Beijing. December 14, afternoon, the 798 creative district.

I had booked a snow trip a month earlier; skipping it would cost me at least 1500+.

Even attending the shard battle would not unlock gold for me: I would still be 800 points short, staying silver.

Attending Beijing shards essentially meant paying out of my own pocket, rearranging travel, and going to help Beijing Resistance.

But once the shard location was announced and Dajiu @BGDajiu invited me, I changed my plans anyway and listed the snow pass on Xianyu at half price.

Meanwhile I actively prepared, getting ready all the Beijing Keys that could link to Tianjin and farming enough copies.

A Green Portal That Needed Recharging

Previously, @RaijThunderkeg repeatedly made snide remarks at me in various groups, but only a few words at a time. I swallowed it like a fly and found it hard to make a scene.

This shard battle, however, provided the clearest example.

On December 8, I used VRBBs to raise the level of a Portal that might link to Beijing and added Mods; the cost was leaving it green.

Unfortunately, my itinerary required a high-speed train to Chongli, Zhangjiakou on the evening of December 10, leaving no time to flip it back to blue.

That meant that while I was away from Tianjin, without an Enlightened player recharging it, the Portal would naturally decay to neutral after 7 days.

I thought: @shaqiuzi is green, and so is @Baahamut. If I can see them around the shard battle and have them recharge it, problem solved. I had distributed Keys to Beijing Resistance before, so in theory some should be around.

So I posted this in a small Beijing WeChat group:

Xy: [Portal image] If anyone has this Key, when convenient please pass it to the nearest non-purist Enlightened for a recharge~~

The following exchange ensued.

[No screenshots: I have hidden the other participants' IDs, and this is not an attack on the whole group. Members can check their own chat history; non-members might suspect Photoshop even if I posted images.]

Why...

A: Because it's Xy's Portal.

B: Give it to 傻球.

A: Give it to 傻球, 眉毛.

Xy: It's mine. I didn't have time to flip it back before leaving.

C: I was wondering about it today too; I thought there weren't any Links on it. I'll package a few together for @隔壁胖萝卜 tomorrow. I don't think I have many either.

But... if nobody flips it at the weekend, I can't use it.

C: Give it to 傻球子. Though it'll probably run out of charge before it gets there [Facepalm].

Isn't the weekend only 3 days away? Why give it to Shaqiu? Can't you just flip it blue?

C: The Portal Xy means probably isn't related to this shard event. It's covered by lots of blue Portals and isn't usable for now.

(Notice that after several explanations, everyone understood the situation. Even C was already trying to help transfer Keys. Meanwhile administrator Raij, “胖萝卜” on WeChat, had already adopted an “irrelevant to me, why should I help?” attitude, though he did not go further then. )

Seeing no further response, I messaged @shaqiuzi and @Baahamut individually, asking whether they could check for this Portal's Key and recharge it.

Both replied: no Key, but they could help when we met at the weekend.

So I snowboarded in Chongli with peace of mind, expecting to get it charged on Saturday evening.

Thursday and Friday went well on snow, except my new boots were too tight and rubbed blisters into my heels. By Friday evening they had burst, leaving a thumb-sized wound painful to the touch.

On Friday evening, Dajiu drove through the snow to Chongli, planning to get up at 4:30 Saturday for the 5:30–7:30 early session. I bought a large adhesive bandage and patched myself up.

At 4:30 Saturday, my heel was already oozing pus and hurt at the slightest touch.

But in the spirit of “we're already here, we have to ride,” I forced on my boots, went up, and did four runs at Wanlong. I even pushed through one run at Xueruyi at the end.

By the time we were ready to return to Beijing, it was already 3 on Saturday afternoon. To avoid the pain, I bought padded slippers to wear.

We reached Beijing after 8, picked up @HubertZhang, and immediately began the nighttime operation.

There were many other IDs I did not know well but who were full of drive. Forgive me for not listing everyone. You all did great.

Several groups worked simultaneously, successfully throwing many blocking Links, especially from Beijing International Airport Terminal T3 to Aerospace City in northwest Beijing, effectively blocking Enlightened's potential northward routes. (This is a denunciation, not an operation report, so I will keep the battle details brief. For a report, read someone else's. )

The tasks done, we returned to Dajiu's place at 4 a.m.

Within 24 hours: two snow mountains, 200 kilometers of travel, and multiple trips around Beijing clearing blockers.

Up to that point, I still felt at peace. Tired, but enjoying it.

Even though “胖萝卜” took part and continued his snide remarks in the meeting room, it did not matter.

Up at 8:30 Sunday morning, preparing for the afternoon's shards. On the way, I noticed the Portal had already decayed to neutral.

The afternoon battle went smoothly, a one-shot success. I will skip it here.

Then, after following Dajiu back to the office for our things, while waiting downstairs with @HubertZhang,

I glimpsed the most disgusting group-chat exchange of the week.

Shaqiuzi: Board guy, where are you?

Xy: Dajiu stood me up, so I'm stuck sitting here. Never mind, no need for the recharge now. Shaqiuzi: [Laughing through tears][Sleep]

········

It went neutral, huh.

No idea why the Key was given to me.

(The previous exchange establishes that “胖萝卜” knew what I had requested for this Portal.)

(After I had given up and told @shaqiuzi no recharge was needed, he popped up with those two remarks. Think about it. Really savor it. )

While @shaqiuzi was still thoughtfully remembering to recharge for me when we met, this other person's words and actions looked especially loathsome.

Now for the reading-comprehension exercise

First: “It went neutral, huh.” That means he had the Key and had seen the Portal turn neutral. I had said only “no need to recharge,” not “it went neutral, so no need.”

Second: “No idea why the Key was given to me.” This sounds even more like a deliberate provocation. I have it, but I just won't pass it on for you~ It went white? Serves you right~

End of reading comprehension.

If anyone has another interpretation of this exchange, please enlighten me.

I very much hope I have misread it and judged him unfairly.

Summarizing the exchange above leaves us with one fact—

A Beijing Resistance player whose ID starts with Raij, after learning that I needed an Enlightened player to recharge a Portal,

A. First casually dismissed my request in the group.

B. Then, in practice, deliberately or otherwise, failed to help.

C. Finally, after the Portal went neutral, deliberately added insult to injury in the group.

Had C not happened, I would never have written this.

A and B could be attributed to excuses like “he talks too much,” “that's just how he is, he's not bad at heart,” or “he was busy and forgot.”

Judge deeds, not hearts. I can accept that.

But C utterly shattered every favorable possibility.

What could have been good or bad collapsed entirely into the worst interpretation—

He did it deliberately.

And it was deliberate from beginning to end.

Looking back, there are countless similar examples; this one is just particularly glaring.

This is not me making a fuss over one isolated case. It is reaching the limit after years of snide treatment.

So Why?

An uninformed bystander might ask: do you have some private feud?

That is what I cannot understand either. From a newbie in 2018 to an old hand now, I have never provoked this distinguished Beijing Resistance administrator online, nor had any real-life dealings with him. I do not know how my virtual or real existence offended this Fat Radish so much that, all these years, every point of contact has brought hostility.

Looking back, this denunciation probably begins seven years ago, one afternoon around 2018, when Beijing Resistance newcomer-group administrator @Raij, true to his usual “good” temper, took a good snide swipe at a little newcomer from Tianjin.

Seven years later, at the end of 2025, on a day of a major Beijing Resistance shard victory, as someone deeply invested in the game for seven years, I want to ask you all—

Is this your “leadership”? Is this how you treat an out-of-town player who gave up snowboarding for the shards and walked injured through Tiantongyuan Park at 3 a.m. clearing blockers?

Your Most Esteemed Emperor Fat Radish, let me make my principles clear—

I can spend three June days leaving early and returning late, working from dawn to night to prepare the Tianjin shards you care so little about.

I can cancel my December plans, lose money, spend my energy, and clear Beijing shard blockers for you while injured at 3 a.m.

But I absolutely will not accept allies' snide remarks, mockery, and backstabbing—the sort of thing you habitually do.

And I want to ask the Beijing Resistance group: how do you all swallow this?

Or is it aimed only at me?

And would that make it right?

“隔壁的胖萝卜,” you are welcome to take me on. Let's hold an online meeting, invite blue and green alike, and hear you explain—

when and where I offended you enough to deserve this treatment. How about it?

The distinguished

administrator of the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei Resistance newcomers' group, “Coach, I Want to Be in the Sitrep! ”

@RaijThunderkeg.

(A rubbish-bin shell? Your ID is rather evocative, I must say. )

What Happens Next?

Using “Beijing Resistance leadership” in today's title is not an attack on Beijing Resistance as a whole. No individual can represent it.

In Beijing's winter night at 3 a.m., I felt everyone's drive, and I am sincerely happy about this shard victory.

I asked other Beijing players too, and their reply was—

That's just how he is: fights with heaven, earth, and thin air.

Mostly an attitude of “grin and bear it” and “agree to disagree.”

I cannot do that. So here I am, cursing him out.

But after the cursing, I still have to consider what comes next.

Here is my list, to be implemented gradually over the long term:

  1. Never join any small group containing @RaijThunderkeg.

  2. Never take part in any operation involving @RaijThunderkeg.

  3. Flip and smash @RaijThunderkeg's home Portal once, with my most sincere blessings.

  4. Circulate this article and ask everyone to bear witness.

How to Deal with Assholes in Your Own Faction

Having cursed out this article's protagonist, let's discuss dealing with assholes in our own faction.

This part is not Resistance-only; it applies to both factions.

Put yourself in the situation: if the other faction did something disgusting, most people would probably go straight on the offensive.

But when it is your own side, things get more delicate.

After all,

“He's a veteran. We'll keep running into each other. What if word gets out and green—or blue—laughs at us?”

“He may have a foul mouth, but he's done some things over the years. Wouldn't calling him out be too embarrassing for him?”

And the result?

As you have all seen, a veteran with no filter, hurting others for no benefit to himself,

protected by his faction's collective silence, grows ever more unhinged and universally disliked over the years. He practically dumps 💩 into the group chat at irregular intervals.

Spend every day around someone like that, and whatever the game is like, your personhood is already half a rung lower.

He can insult you freely, but morality prevents you talking back. If that isn't being half a rung lower, what is?

Is a game worth this? Swallowing humiliation for harmony? Some grand code of loyalty?

So to anyone who wants to keep their dignity intact, when an asshole in your faction goes off the rails,

do not be timid, do not overthink it: be brave and call them out.

Forget “faction unity.” Forget “splitting the community.”

Dongzi once said: if your performance is poor, you're not our brother.

Let me adapt that: if you cannot help allies and can only stab them in the back, then take a souvenir photo afterward, you are even less our brother.

You are not our brother.

If he cannot manage basic respect, what can you expect of him? (Referring to a certain Raij.)

If he writes made-up daily reports without basic fact-checking, what can you expect of him? (Referring to a certain Onion Daily.)

Ultimately, rubbish has no color. Every faction has assholes.

Keep your eyes open, value your life, and stay away from assholes.

All right, everyone in Beijing Resistance,

everyone in Chinese Resistance,

friends on the Enlightened side,

I've downed my glass. You do as you please~

P.S.

Actually, I had meant to confront a different ID beginning @Ra. I did not expect to end up taking another @Ra to task first today. IDs with that prefix really do have a high 💩 content.

Reborn: Fighting Shards in NY was not published on Beijing Resistance's public account. Naturally I do not expect them to repost this piece either: they have to protect their own a little. Those who know, know.

If this moves you, just pass it around privately.

Portal

A: xyのPortalだから。

Shaqiuzi:
