(Gregorian chant)**

《Yerushalaim Shel Zahav (Jerusalem of Gold)》

以及
《Oyf'n Pripetshok / Nacht Aktion》

《Black Hawk》

Nighty Night.

These past couple of days I have become hooked on choral music—church choirs, to be more precise.
Now that I have revived the blog, I may as well collect my thoughts here.
I cannot keep reheating old Ingress stories forever, after all.

The earliest example I heard was probably the Gregorian chant **(Gregorian chant)** at the beginning of Jay Chou’s “Blue Storm.”

Sacred, ethereal, and cleansing to the soul.
Jay Chou really is an encyclopedia of musical discovery.
The same melody also appears in V for Vendetta—in the scene where Natalie Portman dresses as a young girl to assassinate the bishop.
(Speaking of which, V for Vendetta has actually been censored off Douban. Ha. Well, that settles it: I have to watch it again.)

Next was probably the opening of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, with the little girl’s Japanese narration accompanied by
The Promised Land~,” and suddenly a sense of fate washes over you.

After that came a lesser-known Eastern European film, The Double Life of Véronique.
Two young women, one born in Poland and one in France, share the same appearance, the same age, and even the same name: Véronique. Both love music and have beautiful voices. A fine film, with an even finer score.
The trailer happens to feature the two most beautiful musical passages in the film.
One brims with life; the other feels overwhelmingly like falling.

Then, perhaps, from Schindler’s List:
“Yerushalaim Shel Zahav (Jerusalem of Gold)”

And
“Oyf'n Pripetshok / Nacht Aktion”

Next would be Infernal Affairs II, which I recently rewatched.
The three pieces performed by the Hungarian choir are the perfect finishing touch.
A good film and a good score really do bring out the best in each other; neither can do without the other.
“Black Hawk”

Last of all, probably the choral singing at the death of the British queen:
“The Russian Kontakion of the Departed”

That concludes this decidedly incomplete selection of choir-like music.
Nighty Night.

「Yerushalaim Shel Zahav(黄金のエルサレム)」

そして
「Oyf'n Pripetshok / Nacht Aktion」

「Black Hawk」
